Photograph of the Navy and War Department buildings under construction, facing towards the Washington Monument, 1918. Contractors built and used the temporary structures on the far right for as a commissary, storerooms, and barracks for the men. The buildings were located where the Reflecting Pool now lies between the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Courtesy of the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum.
